Four of the five pools in the 20-team boys field of the annual Coyote Classic Soccer Invite boiled down to the last day of pool play Thursday at Campo Verde and Williams Field high schools.

On the coldest day of the weeklong tourney, Chandler, Campo Verde, Corona del Sol and Perry emerged as pools winners. Westwood had its pool wrapped up after two matches.

Chandler needed a win and help from Gilbert to win its pool. The Wolves thrived on a hat trick by Rodrigo Olguin and a pair of goals from Edgar Ortega in defeating Casteel, 5-2. Chandler finished 1-0-2 in its pool and combined with Tempe's 2-1 loss to Gilbert allowed the Wolves to edge Tempe and Gilbert 5-4 in pool victory points. 

Host Campo Verde wrapped up its pool by besting Skyline, 2-0. Both teams were 2-0 in pool play prior to meeting. Campo Verde scoredin the final two minutes of each half. Senior forward Christian Flores scored off an assist by Jorge Chavez for the first goal. Freshman Logan Fredstrup-Adkins connected on a penalty kick for the final tally.

Similarly, Corona del Sol and Mesa High met with 2-0 pool records. Corona scored on a set piece with in the 12th minute,  a corner launched  by Daniel Lopez and last touched by junior midfielder Jacob Flores. Flores went left foot in the box in the 30th minute for the match's other goal.

Westwood, which had a chance to finish as the top seed when the quarterfinals begin Friday, played to a 1-1 tie with Notre Dame Prep, which was 0-2 in pool play prior to the match.The final pool play winner in the final boys game Thursday saw Perry go to 3-0 with a 2-1 win over Highland.

At Williams Field HS: 6:30 p.m. - #2 Corona del Sol vs. #7 Skyline; 8 p.m. -- #3 Perry vs. #6 Mesa
