Coach Stephens said the Sand Devils need to eliminate penalities and turnovers during its final three regular season games.
He said he was pleased with the Sand Devils' defense against Window Rock.
"Our defense did extremely well," Stephens said. "We had three pass interceptions for touchdowns, a two-point safety and three turnovers caused."

Window Rock head coach Wilbur Begay Jr. said the Fighting Scouts could not get going on both sides of the ball.
"We did not play well on offense," Begay said. "That's because of inexperience. We had a young team going into the Page game. Young players stepped up and played the best they could."
Begay praised the effort of sophomore defensive end Caleb Dickson, who stripped the ball for a fumble.
He said the coaching staff will break down the game film and make adjustments on both sides of the ball.
Window Rock, 3-4, 0-2, travel to Chinle, 3-4, 2-0, for a 3A North Region game this Friday at 6 p.m.
Chinle 14, Kayenta Monument Valley 13
The Chinle Wildcats pulled off a 14-13 victory over Kayenta Monument Valley Mustangs in 3A North Region action.
Chinle head coach Alan Barwick said the Wildcats' offense did not perform to its ability throughout the game.
"Two major factors contributed to the Wildcats inability to perform offensively," he said. "I didn't do a good enough job of preparing my team to be successful. MV had a great night on defense. Hats off to them."
Coach Barwick said Darren Woody and Juan Curley continue to shine even though the team had a murky performance. Coach barwick pointed out that Juwan Curley scored a touchdown on a long reception for the second straight week.
"We need to do a better job of practicing at the tempo we want to see in our game," he said.
Coach Barwick said the Wildcats' defense has been the shining star all season.
"If the offense played even 50 per cent better, our defense wouldn't have to be on the field for the majority of the game," coach Barwick said. "I'm proud of the effort they have put in. Our defense has yet to put in their best game. They have no idea how good they can be and we keep preaching that."
Coach Barwick said defensive ends Derek John and Doyle Begay turned in a great performance. He said Charles Yazzie had a pass interception and Juan Curley sealed the victory with a pass interception as the game ended.
"It comes back to offense," he said. "Convincing our players that the role of a scout offense is just as important as the other units has been a challenge. For our defense to truly get better, our scout offense has to work harder to prepare our defense."
Chinle, 3-4, 2-0, entertains the Window Rock Fighting Scouts, 3-4, 0-2, this Friday at 6 p.m. in a 3A North Region game.

"I was pleased with our offensive performance," he said. "Kellen Parrish has been playing real well for us at quarterback and defensive back. He has returned the second half kick off for a touchdown the last two ball games."
Despite the victory, coach Newcomb said he and coaching staff will make adjustments.
"One of our biggest issues has been getting 'started' the last two games, due to four hour bus rides," h said. "We have been sluggish in the first quarter. Not until the second quarter, do we play to our potential."
Coach Newcomb pointed out that Jeremiah Kessay, Cesario Hernandez and Nick Kitcheyan were defensive standouts. Kessay, Hernandez and Kitcheyan all recorded four sacks and three sacks respectively. Parrish had one pass interception.

"I thought in the first half, we had a lot of opportunities to add points to the scoreboard, but only finished with 13 points," Ganado head coach Connor Simmons said. "There were some good things about the offense though. Our offensive line is extremely young and I thought they played fairly well."
Simmons said he and the coaching staff are making adjustments for future games.
"We need to get our guys being more under control up front on both sides of the football and breaking down when we tackle because we're missing too many tackles on defense."
Simmons said the Hornets' defense contained Tuba City's offense. He said rhe Hornets played fast and physical throughout the game.
Simmons credited defensive linemen Wilson Coleman, Augustas Sandoval and Nitrell Begay for containing the Warriors' offense.
