Baseball: Coach Bob Invite kicks off Monday

The 9th annual Coach Bob National Invitational, with 79 baseball teams, begins Monday.
Boulder Creek High in Anthem runs the tournament, named after former Boulder Creek assistant and Arizona High School Hall of Fame inductee Bob Weinheimer, with the help of a handful of host sites. This year, the NFHS Network will live stream five of the tournament’s games, including Thursday’s 4:30 p.m. National Division championship game at Boulder Creek.
The other games the NFHS Network will broadcast are Monday’s Idaho Eagle-Colorado Air Academy matchup and Wednesday’s games between Colorado Monarch and California Lowell and Oregon Tualatin and Glendale Apollo. Coach Bob Weinheimer had a big background in baseball and coaching. Coach Bob was a head baseball coach and an assistant baseball boach in New York City and Northern Ohio from 1951 to 1960. He was an assistant coach at Chandler High School in Arizona from 1995-2003 and most recently an assistant at Boulder Creek from 2004-2011.
Coach Bob played minor league baseball for one season as a pitcher with the St. Louis Browns in 1949. He also played at Marietta College. Coach Bob was a teacher and principal for 25 years in the Alhambra Elementary District and he retired in 1985 and Coach Bob was a certified pitching instructor with the National Pitching Association. Coach Bob was inducted into the Arizona High School Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.
He was also recognized as the District Seven Assistant Coach of the Year at the 2006 national convention. Coach Bob was a teacher of the game and coached for over 44 years. Coach Bob is missed by all and we want to thank him for all he did for Boulder Creek Baseball and the Anthem Community.
