Entering its Thursday matchup with undefeated powerhouse Scottsdale Christian Academy, Paradise Valley was looking for its seventh win in nine games to start the season.
It only needed its first at bat to keep the hot streak going.
Paradise Valley scored five in the first, without the benefit of a hit, and followed that up with seven in the second en route to a 14-1 victory at Paradise Valley High School in a game shortened to five innings.
Paradise Valley (7-2) used its patience to draw walks, and it finally paid off in the third inning, as Alex Farrell’s bases-clearing 370-foot double to the left-center wall put an exclamation point on the rout.
Paradise Valley got a solid start from senior right hander Rhyse Dee, a Wake Forest commit. Dee pitched three scoreless innings and used an assortment of breaking pitches to silence the bats of Scottsdale Christian (3-1).
Scottsdale Christian committed multiple errors, and its starting pitcher Nathan Zittel lasted only 1/3 of an inning.
