Saguaro led 42-20 with 5:01 left in the third quarter and appeared headed toward its fourth blowout victory in the past five weeks.

But there’s no quit in coach Zack Threadgill’s football program at Apollo (5-3). Threadgill’s boys battled back with two quick scores, including a 90-plus yard drive after a Saguaro fumble, to get within eight points of Saguaro late in the fourth quarter.

But Saguaro (6-2) finally knocked out Apollo when it converted a 4^th and 3 from Apollo’s 40 with about two minutes left in the game.

On the play, Byron Murphy ran it in to complete the 40-yard pass play, helping clinch Saguaro’s 49-34 road win.
