Southern Arizona teams still in the hunt for a playoff spot:

Division II/Section II

Sunnyside (6-2, 3-0)

Tucson (6-2, 2-1)

Salpointe (4-4, 2-1)

Sahuaro (3-5, 1-2)

The Sunnyside Blue Devils take control of the section with Tucson getting upset by Cienega 10-7. Tucson and Salpointe still in the hunt for the section title though. Sunnyside would have to lose last two games.

Salpointe and Sahuaro still hanging around for at-large bids. Will depend on the seedings.

Division II/Section III

Queen Creek (6-2, 3-0)

Ironwood Ridge (6-2, 1-1)

Mountain View (6-2, 1-1)

Queen Creek claimed the section title with a 44-6 win over Canyon del Oro (2-6, 1-2) at home. Ironwood Ridge scored 35 second half points to beat Marcos de Niza 35-24 in a division game and Marana Mountain View defeated Poston Butte 35-19.

All three teams are now fighting for a higher seed.

Division III/Section VI

Catalina Foothills (7-2, 4-1)

Sabino (7-1, 4-1)

Marana (5-3, 3-1)

Catalina Foothills knocked off Sabino 3-0 but an earlier loss to Marana means the Falcons will have to wait one more week to claim the section title.

Division IV/Section II

Pueblo (5-3, 4-0)

Thatcher (5-3, 3-1)

Empire (3-4, 2-1)

The Pueblo Warriors need one more win to capture the section title. Thatcher and Empire still in there mathematically.

Division IV/Section VI

Pusch Ridge (7-1, 4-0)

Flowing Wells (8-1, 3-1)

Both teams are in. Pusch Ridge can win section next Friday. Flowing Wells eliminated Sahuarita, ending the Mustangs great run over the last few years.

Division V/Section II

Benson (8-0, 3-0)

Bisbee (5-2, 2-1)

Tombstone (3-4, 2-1)

Tombstone has the remaining realistic shot at stopping Benson. A huge long shot.

Division V/Section VIII

Tempe Prep (6-2, 4-0)

Santa Cruz (6-2, 3-1)

Santa Cruz lost to Tempe Prep but still very much in the playoff picture.

Division VI

Valley Union (7-1)

St. David (6-2)

Ajo (6-2)

The playoff bracket should include all three teams. Playoffs start on Saturday, Oct. 24.
