MaxPreps/USA Baseball name High School Players of the Week for May 25-31, 2015

Scott Ogrin had five hits in eight at bats last week for Valencia (Calif.), with three of his five hits going for home runs. Ogrin was named MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week from the West Region.


DURHAM, N.C.
-- USA Baseball and MaxPreps announced on Monday, the MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award winners for the week of May 25, 2015, bringing national recognition to the top-performing high school athletes in the country.

Representing eight national regions, -- Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest and West -- players are selected based upon stats that are submitted to MaxPreps by coaches and team administrators. For players to be nominated each week, their coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening. High school coaches may obtain an access code to enter stats for their teams at maxpreps.com.

The winners for MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week Award are as follows:

Great Lakes
Daniel McMichael, a junior at Bronson (Bronson, Mich.) High School, allowed zero hits and struck out 10 batters in seven innings of play to earn the Great Lakes MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. McMichael was 1-0 for the week and only allowed three walks.

Mid-Atlantic
Bobby Hampton, a senior at C.B. Aycock (Pikeville, N.C.) High School, struck out 13 batters in seven innings to earn the Mid-Atlantic MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week honor. Hampton allowed only five hits, one walk, and zero runs while earning the victory for his team.

Midwest

Jeremy Eierman, a senior at Warsaw (Warsaw, Mo.) High School, was 6-for-7 with five runs scored and one double to earn the Midwest MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Eierman also drew one walk and one RBI for a slash line of .857/.875/1.000 for the week.

Northeast
Ryan Welby, a senior from Weston (Weston, Mass.) High School, went 5-for-7 (.714) at the plate with seven RBIs to earn the Northeast MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Welby crossed the plate four times while slugging 1.850 and averaging an on-base percentage of .750 for the week.

Northwest

Jacob Haas, a senior from Riverside Christian (Yakima, Wash.) School, twirled 15 strikeouts to earn the Northwest MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Haas allowed zero runs, three hits and one walk in seven complete innings of play.

Anthony Gomez, Banquete



Southwest
Anthony Gomez, a junior from Banquete (Banquete, Texas) High School, notched seven strikeouts in six innings of play to earn the Southwest MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week honor. Gomez was 1-0 for the week and did not allow any runs.

West
Scott Ogrin, a junior from Valencia (Valencia, Calif.) High School, blasted home runs for three of his five hits on the week to earn West MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Ogrin was 5-for-8 (.625) with four RBIs, and four runs scored. He slugged 1.750 for the week.

Play has concluded in the southeast region for the 2015 season.
