Jarred Vanderbilt of Victory Prep (Houston) was one of 27 players named to USA Basketball's Men's Junior National Team.

The next cycle of USA Basketball stars came into focus Thursday as the organization named 27 high school freshmen and sophomores to the 2015-16 Men's Junior National Team.

That pool of players will eventually be narrowed down to 12 for the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship.

USA Basketball's U16 and U17 teams are 38-0 since 2009 with gold medals in six consecutive international competitions. Iowa's Don Showalter will continue as the progam's head coach

"We had most of these guys out last October for our USA Junior National Team mini-camp and overall we've got a really good combination of good bigs who are very skilled, some good shooters and some very good point guards," Showalter said.

Past Men's Junior National Team standouts include Brad Beal, Andre Drummond, Aaron Gordon, Stanley Johnson, Tyus Jones, Jahlil Okafor and Jabari Parker.

This year's FIBA Americas U16 Championship will be hosted by Argentina in June.
