Corona del Sol principal Brent Brown said in an email Monday the school has chosen varsity football assistant Tim Kelly as interim head coach for the Aztecs for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Kelly takes over for Tom Joseph, who was dismissed as coach last Thursday after 2 1/2 seasons. Kelly served as Corona's acting head coach in last Friday's 21-0 loss to Mesquite.

Kelly is a 1987 graduate of Corona and has served as an assistant coach at the varsity or junior varsity level  here for the past 20 years. Corona del Sol is 0-5 heading to its game Friday (Oct. 4) against Brophy.
