Phoenix Xavier Prep has announced that Frank Villa will be the new coach of its basketball team.

Villa, a coach for 21 seasons in the girls’ and boys’ ranks, including both girls and boys at Avondale Westview, replaces Chantel Vinson. She coached at Xavier for two years before leaving for Indiana to be closer to her family.

“Frank Villa has been successful at the club, high school and junior college levels," said Sister Lynn Winsor, Xavier athletic director.

"His capacity to build Xavier's total basketball program from the freshman level through the varsity level is what Xavier is looking for in a new head coach. Mr. Villa has the skills to do that. All of us at Xavier are excited about his level of commitment to our student-athletes and to Xavier's mission of excellence in all that we do."
