They are the three faces on the Mount Rushmore of Arizona high school football coaches.

Each has won 300 or more games in their career.

And the chiseling is about to begin on a fourth face up yonder – Paul Moro of Lakeside Blue Ridge has a chance to earn his 300th career victory on Friday night (Sept. 28) at home against St. Johns.

It is remarkable when you think about what these men have accomplished. And Moro is still going strong – he is seeking his 13th state championship and the school’s 15th this season.

Even more remarkable -- the lives they have touched – the men they have helped mold, many of them fathers who have displayed a tremendous work ethic, who have passed along this life’s approach to their children and others.

This is what they should be remembered for. I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with each of them. I have seen what it takes – more time, effort and sacrifice than most people realize – and the level to which they have ascended is no fluke by any means.

And to coach Moro: congrats on getting 300, whenever it comes. We look forward to the day when you reach 400. It certainly is well within the realm of possibility.
