Roye Oliver III named 2025 Ed Doherty Award winner

Hamilton sophomore receiver Roye Oliver III was named the 2025 Ed Doherty Award recipient on Saturday at a special luncheon hosted by the Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission (ASEC). Oliver was one of more than 100 student-athletes nominated for the honor throughout the season. He led the state in receiving yards (1,839); receiving touchdowns (29); and receiving yards per game (153.2); ranking second in receptions (92), while playing in 12 games.
The other nine final nominees were Jaylee Abraham, Desert View; Dante Bruly, Basha; D’Mari Bryant, Millennium; Donivan Dixon, Cactus Shadows; Devin Fitzgerald, Brophy; Will Mencl, Chandler; Colten Meyer, Marana; Jax Scully, Hamilton and Zeth Thues, Liberty.
Dr. Jim Dean, the executive director of the AIA, introduced Bobby Ferreir as the “Referee of the Year.”
