Corona del Sol's pitching dominated in what turned out to be a championship campaign in 2025.

Senior Brett Crossland tossed a three-hit shutout and the Aztecs offense backed him with 10 runs as Corona posted a 10-0 run-rule victory over Casteel Tuesday night in the 6A title game at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

The win added the school's third baseball title to others posted in 1993 under then head coach Ron Davini and the 2009 crown authored by current coach David Webb. Corona del Sol (25-6) played seven postseason games this season, surrendering a meager 10 runs total in those contests. Casteel, who won 5A titles in 2023 and 2024, finished 22-10.

"These guys buy in," Webb said. ''They listen to everything we say. All these kids. All the kids display selflessness."

Crossland, who transferred from Mountain Pointe at the start of the season, retired Casteel in order in the first inning. His teammates responded with four runs in their half of the inning. Crossland's line for the game was three hits allowed, two walks and seven strikeouts.

Leadoff hitter Ben Jacobus got Corona's offense going with a double off Casteel starter Evan Hedlund. Hedlund went to 3-2 or 3-1 counts on the next three hitters and each drew walks. The third walk to Corona cleanup hitter Connor Long plated the first run.

Kellen Tom's sacrifice fly and and a two-run single by David Moss capped the rally. Casteel lifted Hedlund for Cayden Hockanson, who stopped the bleeding with two strikeouts. Hedlund allowed two hits, three walks and four runs in a 1/3 inning of work.

Crossland for his part kept Casteel silent with a 1-2-3 first and 1-2-3 second. He managed to escape jams in the third and fourth innings. Casteel stranded two runners in the third and left the bases loaded in the fourth.
A 1-2-3 fifth from Crossland started the victory celebration.

Jacobus led Corona, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. Moss was 2 -for-2 with three RBI. Conor Ray was the third Corona hitter with multiple hits (2-for-3).
