Salpointe improved to 3-0 on the year after the Lancers beat Seton Catholic 4-0 on opening day of the Lancer Baseball Classic held at the Reid Park Annex in Tucson. The Lancers scored three runs in the top of the first on Tuesday to take control of the game and then another run in the fifth for the 4-0 final.

Senior standout Izaiah Moraga threw four innings, picking up five strikeouts, and sophomore Adrian Villela threw the final three innings, adding four more strikeouts. In all, the Lancers gave up one hit to the Sentinels. Seton Catholic went with senior P.J. Rafford, who pitched five innings, senior Max Peterson and junior Joe Bruce. Rafford collected four strikeouts in the loss.

Adan Koch Rodriguez started the game off with a single and then Colton Raetzman tripled him in one out later. Moraga followed with an RBI single and Aciel Guillen brought in the third run on another RBI single. That score held up until the fifth inning when Raetzman knocked in Ronan Baker on his second hit of the game.

Raetzman went 2 for 4 with the triple and two RBI, Rodriguez went 1-2, Ryder Parsons went 1-1, Moraga went 1-3 with an RBI, Guillen went 1-3 with an RBI and David Driskill went 1-3. Nathan Mulligan went 1-3 for Seton Catholic.

Seton Catholic (5-3) Will play Douglas (5-1) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and then Canyon del Oro (5-3) at 6 p.m. Salpointe will play Yuma (4-1) at 3:30 p.m. and then Estrella Foothills (2-1) at 6 p.m.
