Campo Verde's young roster isn't stopping it from winning big games this season.
Wednesday night at Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale, the Coyotes young guns outdueled the Saints, 58-46 in a key 5A East Sky Region matchup.

Freshman Anna Manning scored 15 of her 22 points in the pivotal third quarter, which included four 3-pointers.
The win puts Campo Verde (18-4, 8-1) in first place in the region, and exacts revenge for a one point loss to Notre Dame (12-10, 7-2) earlier in the season. The Coyotes entered the game ranked No. 6 in the 5A power point rankings and 18th in the Open division.

"I think this win was really big for us," Manning said afterward. "We came into this season knowing that no one really knew about us and we've kind of been the underdogs...so this is really big."

Notre Dame sophomore Lily McCracken scored 14 of her team-high 20 points in the first half, as the Saints held a 27-24 at halftime. Campo Verde went cold in the second quarter, going 3-12 from the field. The third quarter was different story,  however, as the Coyotes broke out with a 16-3 run.

Kelsey Watts hit a 3-pointer on Campo Verde's first possession before Manning's barrage of 3-pointers made the score 43-30.
Notre Dame fought back with seven straight points. Brooke Nowak drained a three pointer before McCracken converted two free throws and a lay up after a steal to cut Campo Verde's lead to six points (43-37).
But the Coyotes quickly put to rest any chance of a Notre Dame comeback with an 11-2 run to start the fourth quarter.
Kelsey Watts converted a 3-point play before Kdynce Parks hit two consecutive 3-pointers. Notre Dame never got closer than seven points.

"Our girls were really locked in tonight," Campo Verde coach Maurice Scott said. "We have a young team but these girls have been working hard and they come to every practice and game."
Watts added 10 points for Campo Verde. Nowak scored 12 for Notre Dame.
