Tucson High beat Marana 10-3 to win the Badger Classic Thursday afternoon. Marana beat Tucson 10-6 during pool play on Thursday and the teams made their way through bracket play to set up the championship final.

Alexa Corona hit a home run for the Tigers in the pool play victory but the Badgers also brought some bats with Alma Teillon, Jiselle Nunez and Nana Lesley also going deep but Marana held on for the victory.

In the championship game, the two teams played to a 1-1 tie but the Badgers broke the game open with four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Sadie Silverstein hit a home run for the Tigers as did Sofie Trejo and Aaliyah Julio.

Marana (14-3 overall, 3-1 in ranking games) made it to the semifinal round of the Dorado Classic to start the season and the program will take a break before hosting Flowing Wells (1-9, 1-4) on March 21. Tucson (15-2, 6-0) will take an even longer break before hosting Dobson (6-5, 4-3) on March 25.
