Girls D-I: Liberty wins third state championship

Liberty beat Sunnyside 145.5 to 127 to win its third team championship in the four years the AIA offered the event. Sunnyside also took second place last year.

Pueblo standout freshman Elizabeth Valenzuela Smith (107) became the first third generation wrestling champion. Her grandfather Orlando Smith (1974-75) and Josiah Smith (1998) were also state champions from Pueblo.
