STORY LINES

 

Sunnyside senior Audrey Jimenez (D-I: 106) is now the fourth girl to ever place at a boys state tournament and she will be wrestling for a state championship. She is also the only wrestler in the field going for a fourth title.

Pueblo standout Elizabeth Valenzuela Smith (D-I: 107) is attempting to be the first third generation state champion.

Siblings Khyla Lipumano (D-II: 100) of Yuma Catholic and her brother Khel Lipumano (D-IV:113) are wrestling to be the first brother/sister state champions.

Sunnyside is going for the 38th state title in program history and the lasts even in a row.

Sahuarita is going for the third in a row on the boy’s side and Morenci for their fourth in a row.

There are 33 returning state champions out of 1,283 wrestlers.
