2011-2012 championship tote board: 45 schools win titles

With the completion of the Division I and Division II baseball championship games Tuesday night, the 2011-2012 prep athletic season ended.

The final tally shows 45 schools won 71 championships available in badminton, baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swim and dive, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling. A further breakdown shows 44 championships were won by public schools and 27 by private or charter schools.

The roll call of champion is as follows: Xavier Prep (5), Salpointe Catholic (5), Brophy Prep (3), Ironwood Ridge (3), Chandler (3), Canyon del Oro (3), Highland (2), Gilbert High (2), Seton Catholic (2), Chaparral (2), Sunnyslope (2), Hopi (2), Blue Ridge (2), Phoenix Country Day (2), Pusch Ridge (2) and Chinle (2). Single titles were won by Corona del Sol, St. Mary's, Desert Vista, Hamilton, Red Mountain, Peoria, Flagstaff, Catalina Foothills, Arcadia, Gilbert Christian, Page, Cortez, Estrella Foothills, Bourgade Catholic, Thatcher, Higley, Mingus, Thunderbird, River Valley, Tempe Prep, Yuma Catholic, Show Low, Valley Christian, Veritas, St. Johns, St. David, Joseph City, Northwest Christian and Saguaro.
