Hamilton outlasted Brophy 568 to 575 to win the Division I boys golf championship held Thursday and Friday at the Aguila Golf Course in Laveen Village. This is the 10th championship for the Huskies which puts the program in a tie with Snowflake but one behind Arcadia and Thatcher who are sitting at the top with 11 trophies.

Brophy beat Hamilton last year to draw even at nine state titles after Hamilton ripped off three in a row from 2019, 2020 and 2021. Hamilton came into the state final as the top-ranked program regardless of classification and Brophy was ranked second. Corona del Sol was ranked third but Chaparral flipped spots at state to take third place 591 to 592 over Corona del Sol.

For the individual medal, Liberty senior Adam Croix shot an 11-under-par 133 (68-65) to claim the state title over Hamilton senior Vincent Cervantes who came in two shots back (69-66: 135). Cervantes won the individual title in 2021. Casteel senior Austin Bullard took third (72-65: 137). Brophy senior Tyler Spielman won the state championship last year and he came in tied for fifth this year (69-70: 139).

Croix came in 28th place last year but he birdied 15, 16 and 17 on the final day on Friday to hold off Cervantes. Cervantes is still the top-ranked golfer in the state regardless of classification.
