Campo Verde defeated Arizona College Prep 3-0 to win in back-to-back fashion for the second time this season on Thursday.

They did it on the road ... and it wasn't easy.

Senior Audrey King hit the game-winner late to move the Coyotes to 6-4 on the season..

"I practice for these moments," said King. "Especially three extra points, not just a regular extra point kick after a touchdown."

Campo Verde's Madison Coger proved to be the team's catalyst once again.

She made big plays offensively and defensively. On the offensive side, she had nine receptions for a total of 146 yards, bringing her total yards all season to 1,510, good for first in Arizona and second in the nation in receiving yards.

Defensively, Madison was even more pivotal, coming up with two interceptions, making it seven for the season. She had one in the red zone and the other after Campo Verde took the lead late in the game.

"I think they're definitely momentum shifting," she said of the interceptions, "especially the second interception, because it kind of just gave us another opportunity to score. I think it really brought the other team's confidence down and ours way up."

It also helped the Coyotes defense all night. Late in the second quarter, sophomore Serena De Rosa and senior Samantha Cocke made crucial defensive plays which led to Madison's first interception.

King had a chance to add a field goal after Madison's second interception, but missed right.

Campo Verde Coach Brian Coger challenged the call, believing the attempt was taken on the wrong spot. The challenge was not overturned.

"It's whatever," King said. "They (the coaches) took chances on me."

The Coyotes' defense held strong throughout the rest of the half to get the win.

"We had some big plays," said Coach Coger, of the offense despite just scoring three points. "We missed on a few things this week - (including) miscommunication, but our game plan for the most part was there."

He added: "We actually started with a game plan that we had in pregame and just stuck with it. ... We felt like it was a good thing going into the half 0-0."

The Coyotes are on their fall break and heading into their bye week.
