The AIA Wrestling Sports Advisory Committee made some changes and clarifiactions for girls wrestling this winter with the biggest change being the move to two divisions. The first three team championships have all been Division I and now there will also be a Division II:

The other change is the opportunity to have centralized sectional tournaments for travel and cost considerations:

Finally, per AIA Rule 14.11.6, “whenever a school provides a team(s) for boys and a team(s) for girls in the same sport, girls shall not be permitted to qualify for the boys’ team(s) in that sport….” The rule will be applied this winter. A wrestler can petition to wrestle boys, "but if the petition is granted, then the petitioning girl cannot wrestle on the girls’ team or compete in the girls’ sectional or state tournaments,' per the committee.
