Jordin Cowing and Emilee Swagger made the cut at Pebble Beach

Several golfers from Arizona representing the Phoenix and Tucson First Tee programs were selected to compete at the 2023 PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee held at Pebble Beach and Spyglass this past week.

The cut on the girl’s side after two days was an 8-under 136, with Casteel junior Jordin Cowing and Canyon View senior Emilee Swagger advancing to play on Sunday. Xavier senior Kyla Layman shot a 3-over 147 (77-70) on Friday and Saturday to miss the cut.

Cowing finished in 9th place with a 13-under 203 (67-68-68) and Swagger came in 10th with a 10-under 206 (68-66-72). Senior Alyssa Stewart of Dallas won the event with a 28-under 188 (66-59-63).

On the boy’s side, only 12 golfers made the cut in the competitive field and the cut for round three played on Sunday was a 10-under-par 134 which left all the boys from Arizona out of the final field.

Tempe Prep senior Noah Quiros shot a 5-under 137 (68-69), Chase Pickering of Sabino shot a 6-under 138 (69-69), Gregory School senior James Labukas came in with a 5-under 139 (70-69) as did Tempe Prep senior Jay Nergard (70-69).

Sophomore Brayden Casolari of Kentucky won the tournament with a 21-under 195 (64-67-64).
