Canyon del Oro and Salpointe compete in early test

Canyon del Oro swept Salpointe 105-62 (boys) and 107-63 (girls) in a dual meet held Thursday, Sept. 7 at the Oro Valley Pool.

The Dorados return Division II defending state 50 Free champion Scott Edmiston and two of his teammates on the 200 Free Relay team, Mason Stewart and Ruben Padilla-Diaz. The Lancers return D-III state 50 Free and 200 Free champion Keegan Kelly. 

Salpointe was hit hard with the graduation of Tyler Driscoll, who now swims for NC State. She left win seven state championships at Salpointe including four from last year. Her teammate Sasha Ganem swims for San Diego and she earned three state championships last year and Makena Nansen graduated with two state championships. Junior Sterling Edwards is the only returning state champion from the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Free Relay teams.

The Dorados will host the CDO Swim Classic on Saturday, Sept. 16. It is one of four State Qualifying meets held in Southern Arizona.
