Sabino over Thatcher 11-1

Sabino improved to 5-4 in power-ranking games after the Sabercats defeated Thatcher 11-1 in five innings on Monday. The loss moved the Eagles to 4-6 in ranking games. The initial set of AIA power rankings are slated to be released on Tuesday at noon, (sooner on the AZPreps365 app) with only regular season contests taken into account.

Sabino and Thatcher compete in the 3A South Region and the top two teams from each of the six 3A regions will automatically qualify for the conference play-in tournament at the very least. The play-in tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26.

Max Lialios got the start for Sabino against Thatcher and the junior collected six strikeouts in the win while giving up one unearned run in five innings of work. The Sabercats scored four runs in the bottom of the first and the team added a run in the third inning and another in the fourth before scoring five in the fifth for the 11-1 run-rule victory.

Going down the lineup, Santo Chrico went 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI; Lialios went 2-4 with a double and an RBI; Oscar Rocha went 3-3 with a double; Leaf Moylan went 1-1 with a double; Julian Cebrero went 1-2 with a double; Josh Remencus went 1-1 with an RBI; Mario Burruel went 2-3 with two RBI; Hayden Green went 2-3 with a double and an RBI and Cody Calles scored a run. For Thatcher, Landon Dunran went 1-2 and he scored a run. Landon Rios and Kaye Ferris saw action on the mound.

Sabino will travel to Palo Verde (2-6) on Wednesday and Thatcher will host Empire (2-6) on the same night.
