Spring events whet appetite for state tourneys

It won’t be long before spring sports state tournaments get under way, but until then, there are some tournaments coming up this week to whet the appetite.

And here they are . . .

Baseball

Wolves Classic, April 5-7, at several locations – Buckeye High, Goodyear Desert Edge, Goodyear Estrella Foothills, Buckeye Verrado, with finals at Goodyear Ballpark, spring-training home of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians.

Participating teams – Lakeside Blue Ridge, Buckeye, Chino Valley, Phoenix Cortez, El Mirage Dysart, Goodyear Estrella Foothills, Florence, Globe, Holbrook, Payson, Sedona Red Rock, Show Low, Snowflake, Buckeye Verrado, Wickenburg, Winslow.

Track and field

Chuck Hardt Co-Ed Relays, April 3 at Payson High.

Participating teams – Lakeside Blue Ridge, Payson, Round Valley, Sedona Red Rock, Show Low.

Wrangler Athletic Boosters Invitational, boys and girls, April 5 at Wickenburg High.

Joseph City Invitational, boys and girls, April 6 at Joseph City High.

Kingman Invitational, boys and girls, April 7, at Kingman High

Participating teams – Beaver Dam, Kingman, Lake Havasu, Bullhead City Mohave, Page, River Valley.

Tennis

SUSD City Tennis, boys and girls, April 2-9, at Scottsdale Coronado and Scottsdale Saguaro.

Participating teams – Phoenix Arcadia, Scottsdale Chaparral, Scottsdale Coronado, Scottsdale Desert Mountain, Scottsdale Saguaro.
