The Gilbert Christian JV girls volleyball team has won 12 out of 14 games they have played so far. Head JV Coach Michelle Petrey states, “Everyone underestimated us at first, but the team grew throughout the season.”

A highlight the coach mentioned was how the girls came back after a big loss. “Coming back from the loss of Northwest Christian and beating Scottsdale Christian was so exciting and you could see the excitement throughout the team,” Coach Petrey says. After losing 0-2 to Northwest, the girls bounced back with a 2-0 win against Scottsdale Christian.

While defeating Scottsdale was the bounce back of the season for the JV girls volleyball team, the most memorable game was the Valley Christian game on home turf. After a hard fought battle, the lady Knights defeated the Trojans with a 2-0 sweep. “The crowd was screaming and cheering and the team was focused on winning which is how we came out on top,” says Coach Petrey.

The JV girls have worked incredibly hard since the very beginning. Coach Petrey says the best part of competing was,” watching the girls overcome things that they didn’t know they could do.” After almost every game, the girls had huge smiles on their faces while they were also encouraging each other.
