The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) named three wrestlers from Arizona to the First Team Academic All-American list. Daniel Miranda of Mountain View, Khel Lipumano of Yuma Catholic and Cristian Rivera of Sunnyside earned that honor and Gabriel Gallardo of Sahuarita was named to the Second Team.

“He (Daniel Miranda) is one of only three athletes in Arizona to receive this honor and continues to demonstrate the importance of putting academics first and setting a tremendous example of being a Student/Athlete by achieving success on and off the mat,” said Mountain View head coach Rick Majalca. “Along with his academic success, he is a three-time All-State Wrestler, two-time State Finalist, and the 2021 120lb State Champion.

We are incredibly proud of this young man who is a leader on the team and continues to deliver the message of what Mountain View High School Wrestling is about.”

Sahuarita standouts Daniel Guerrero, Christian Lopez, Justin Fox, Malcolm Williams, Julian Prieto, Trajan Rios, Levi Pannell, Jayden Real, Miyah Palacios and Daniel Guerrero made the Honorable Mention list. Aiyanna Nash and Shree Yazzie of Monument Valley also made the Honorable Mention list.
