Saguaro's softball team earned two positives for the price of one on Monday afternoon. The host Sabercats avenged an earlier region drubbing at the hands of Seton Catholic and kept their hopes alive for a share or possibly the 4A Desert Sky Region title outright with a 10-0 triumph in six innings.

#9 Seton (4A power-rankings) saw a five-game winning streak end with the loss and is 14-7 overall and 5-1 in region. #18 Saguaro improved to 9-7-1, 4-1 region.

A week ago Saguaro walked away on the short end of a 9-2 score at Seton with the Sentinels Bella Hernandez allowing just three hits, one earned run. She fanned seven and issued no walks.

This time the Sabercats Olivia Holliday dominated the circle with a three-hit shutout. Holliday, a junior, struck out five and walked one with only the first inning a minor problem. Holliday received ample offensive support from the get-go as teammates tallied four times in the first inning and amassed a 7-0 advantage through three innings.

Saguaro leadoff hitter Alexa Simpson collected three hits and scored twice. Bella Chouinard represented the bottom of the order going 3 for 3 with three RBI. Hailey Holliday was 2 for 4 with a double, home run and 3 RBI. Carsten Sandvig also homered for the Sabercats, ending the contest via run-rule with a solo shot in the sixth to complete a 2 for 3 afternoon.

Seton's next game is non-region Tuesday on the road at Youngker. Saguaro is idle until Thursday when its hosts a non-region game vs. Shadow Mountain.
