Nate Dickinson is a sophomore libero for the Gilbert Christian Men’s Volleyball team. Nate is a beginner to the sport of volleyball, but is already showing tremendous improvement and love for the sport. With many new additions to the team this year, including Dickinson, his teammates speak very highly of him and the energy he brings to the team. Owen Gehr, a sophomore outside hitter, says “Nate is a positive player in the game and in practice.” Kaleb Powell, a sophomore setter/ outside hitter also adds, “He is a good leader on the court and takes responsibility any time he messes up.”
Dickinson says he is pushed everyday to be a better player by his coach and teammates. He has improved immensely and continues to work through his weaknesses and gain new strengths. Coming from a soccer background, Dickinson has gained quick reflexes and speed which makes him such a great asset to the team. However, Nate believes that his weakness on the court is the accuracy of his passes, but continues to have determination to get better. Powell added, “he puts in outstanding effort to save every ball even if it isn’t possible.”
Nate shows determination, grit, and puts in hard work, which is what he believes makes a great volleyball player. Dickinson looks forward to improving more and continuing his high school volleyball career next year.
The GCHS Men’s Volleyball team will face off against Arizona College Prep at Gilbert Christian High School on April 12 at 5:30 p.m!
