The Canyon View varsity girls basketball team beat La Joya at Canyon View Arena by a score of 64-28.

Senior Angelina Theil started the Jaguars off with a layup and Canyon View never looked back. Later in the first quarter, sophomore Madison Reibel hit two three-point baskets to make the score 13-4. Junior Ella Seymour ended the first quarter with the game's third three-point basket which put the Jaguars up 20-6.

"Tonight's game was a lot of fun, we had good chemistry," junior Ella Seymour said.

Senior Taylor Jacobs made the first basket of the second quarter and both Reibel and Seymour hit three-point baskets which made the score 34-17. The first half ended with the Lady Jags up 35-19.

Theil started the third quarter with a basket to increase the Jaguar lead to 37-23. Seymour went on to hit yet another three-pointer and senior Caidyn Spickler landed a jumper as the Canyon View lead continued to grow.

The Jaguar bench saw extensive playing time in the final quarter as sophomore Anyah Herrera hit a basket that was followed by a three-pointer from senior Madison Jacobs. Junior forward Maylee Regan added a layup later in the quarter as Canyon View closed out the game with a 36-point win.

"Very happy with tonight's game, bouncing off a tough loss, these girls really responded well," assistant coach Alan Ursic said after the game.

The Lady Jags will play their final home game of the regular season on Friday, February 4 against Verrado.
