The Chandler Prep Titans took the field at ten till seven on Friday, October 8th, ready for their third home game against the NFL Yet High School Eagles. Three hours later, Chandler Prep left with the decisive victory, 73-35. Even facing the losses of a few key offensive players throughout the game, the Titans offense persevered, largely thanks to one individual, junior running back Sterling Harris. Head Coach Peake had nothing but praise for his star running back:

“Sterling Harris is an amazing player. He has great stamina, he plays both ways, he’s an amazing leader on the field, and I only wish I could clone him.”

Titan running back, sophomore Adrian Robinson ran the ball twice before he was injured and pulled out for the rest of the game. In those two carries, Robinson gained 25 yards, putting the Titans in the red zone, leading to a touchdown.

Titan slot back, senior Noah LoBue played the majority of the first half. In that time, he carried the ball for over 30 yards, scored two touchdowns, and ran for a two-point conversion.

Titan running back, senior Sam Davis carried the ball for a few plays at the end of the second quarter including a seven-yard rush for the final touchdown of the half.

Titan quarterback, junior Nolan Kemper tucked the ball for the quarterback scramble a few times during the night, even scoring two two-point conversions for Chandler Prep. Kemper rarely threw a pass on Friday, collecting only three completions on the night.

NFL Yet scored the first touchdown of the game with a two-point conversion. They continued to make plays and collect first downs, but the Titan defensive line or cornerbacks would often make consecutive stops and the Eagles would turn the ball over on downs.

Titan sophomore Creon Fulgham played a huge role defensively with a fumble recovery, a pick six, and numerous tackles. He is ranked #1 in 2A and in the top ten state-wide for interceptions. Fulgham also had over 60 yards on offense, including a touchdown.

Through all this success, strength, and teamwork, however, running back Sterling Harris shone above it all. Spinning out of tackles and relying well on blocks from seniors Zach Romesburg, Grant Peake, and Ian Pelczarski, Harris played phenomenally. Quarterback Kemper said this about his teammate:

“Sterling is absolutely amazing … Sterling makes us all better every day in practice and he is always pushing us. He is a positive influence on the team; he’s always upbeat. He’s amazing.”

Harris carried the ball for over 300 yards on Friday night. Seven of his carries were for over twenty yards, including a 52-yard run on third down for the final touchdown of the game. He ran in four touchdowns and scored one two-point conversion. Harris also looked alive on defense with a big sack, joining Romesburg who sacked the Eagle’s quarterback twice.

The Chandler Prep Titans play their next home game against the Glendale Prep Griffins on Friday October 15th at 7:00pm. Titan Up.
