Red Mountain High School hosts the 3rd annual Nate Johnson Wrestling Invitational Friday (Jan. 20) and Saturday (Jan. 21) with 24 teams competing in the dual meet tournament.

The tournament begins Friday with four pools of six teams battling at Red Mountain HS and Mesa HS. At the completion of round-robin pool play Friday, the top two teams from each pool, the third and fourth teams and fifth and sixth teams reconvene Saturday at Red Mountain HS for three brackets of competition.

Wrestling on Friday (Jan. 20) begins at 9 a.m. and lasts through early evening. The teams in pools at Red Mountain are: RED POOL -- Red Mountain, Silver, N.M.; Higley, Desert Ridge, Pinnacle and Mesquite. BLACK POOL -- Skyline, Basha, Perry, Dobson, Shadow Ridge, Coconino. The teams in pools at Mesa High are: GOLD POOL -- Mesa, Campo Verde, Seton, Desert Mountain, Sandra Day O'Connor and Central. PURPLE POOL -- Marcos de Niza, Hamilton, Brophy, Verrado, Tucson and Millennium.

The three eight-team, dual-format bracket tournaments are at Red Mountain HS on Saturday. The first round begins at 9 a.m., followed by rounds at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m.  and the championship finals at 5:30 p.m.
