Julia Moore is a journalism student at Gilbert Christian High School assigned to cover high school sports for AZPreps365.com

Sienna Oglesby is in her sophomore year at Gilbert Christian High School and is a part of the cheer team. Sienna isn’t your average high school cheerleader though, on top of being a part of her high school cheer team Sienna is also an allstar cheerleader. Allstar cheer is competitive cheerleading that focuses on high intensity and competing at an advanced level. Sienna has cheered at three different gyms, that includes AZ Fusion, USA Starz, and her current gym, The California Allstars, located in Mesa, AZ. Photo credit: Melanie Ogelsby

How many years have you cheered?

“Since 2012, so eight years.”

How is allstar different from school cheer?

“Allstar is really intense, and we condition a lot more compared to school cheer.”

How has cheer impacted your life?

“Allstar has made me mentally tougher, while school cheer has involved me in my school.”

How long do you see yourself doing allstar?

“Until I am eighteen.”

It takes a special athlete to be able to balance being on two different teams during the same season. Sienna puts all her heart into everything that she does and always gives 100% at practices. Sienna Oglesby is young and has a very bright and successful cheerleading career ahead of her, whether she decides to continue to cheer for school or allstar teams.
