On Tuesday, November 3, the Chandler Prep Titans hosted their last home match of the season, facing the Arete Prep Chargers while honoring their six seniors. Junior hitter Mia Evers commented on the match and the forthcoming loss of the Titan seniors:

“Our last home game was really good—it was fun. I’m going to miss the seniors so much. I’ve been with a lot of them since sixth grade, so it’s kind of tough.”

After a brief 2-0 lead in the first set for the Chargers, they netted a serve and Titan senior Holly Gialketsis went on a 16-point service run with seven aces. During that time, she also collected one kill and five assists for the Titan offensive. Arete struggled to rebound from such a deficit and Chandler Prep took the first set 25-7. Serving first in the second set was junior Taylor Dedich, a player whose season ended before it began because of a knee injury. Unfortunately, the Titans lost the first point, playing one short. Gialketsis shone again though from the serving line with a 13-point service run. Defensively, seniors Evi Yates and Olivia Cadien blocked well for the Titans, each also collecting three kills offensively in the second set. The Titans took the second set 25-8.

The third set served to honor the seniors and to show, briefly, the future of the Titan varsity volleyball team. Senior libero Cassi Bronson donned a normal jersey for the first time in a long while and all the seniors had some fun on the court together. Showing a strong serving game, Bronson served five points with four aces and Yates went on a seven-point service run with two aces. The seniors came out on game point and the next generation of starters came in to finish the match. Sophomore Zoe Yates got the final point with a kill ending the game at 25-14. Chandler Prep Assistant Coach Nick said this about the seniors and the future starters:

“The seniors know how to have fun and that’s what they did. As far as our starting lineup for the next year, there’s a lot of promise. There are a lot of really good girls. Juliet [Mason] had a great freshman season—to be able to come in and play with the rest of the seniors is awesome for her.”

The Titans play their last regular season game away against the Gilbert Classical Spartans on Wednesday, November 4 at 5:00pm. Titan Up.
