The Gilbert Christian Football team is 2-2 after the big loss on Friday against ALA Gilbert. Will they bounce back from this loss with a win this Friday? I asked a football player about the season and here's what defensive lineman and special teams player, Lucas Valles, had to say about the football team and his role on the team.

2020 is the first year Lucas has played tackle football and it's a little bit different than previous years due to COVID-19. At the beginning of the year the head football coach, Danny Norris, had Lucas playing as tight end; but Rob Rowan soon took that starting spot. Now Coach Norris has Lucas playing special teams on kickoff and defensive lineman on defense.

Lucas was really hoping that his team would make the playoffs this year but due to COVID-19 that may not be possible. Lucas’s main motivation is his family, his mom and dad and also his two brothers Stone and Marcus. They are the main reason he decided to finally play football this year. In previous years Lucas has played volleyball, and he said that the football team has a stronger bond together than the volleyball team. Lucas explained the team has a brotherhood that he is grateful for. Practice may be hard, but Lucas claims his teammates make it fun. Lucas loves the game of football, and he says that this year will be one for the history books.
