The inaugural AIA esports championships are set. The fall champions in the games of Rocket League and League of Legends will square off in the showroom at Dave & Buster’s Tempe Marketplace on Friday, Jan. 24.

The top two teams competing in Rocket League will begin competition at 5 p.m. and it will be a best-of-seven format. League of Legends will follow at 6 p.m. and will feature a best-of-three format. Fans are encouraged to pack the house and cheer on these teams. One lucky fan in attendance will win a complete peripheral (keyboard, headset and mouse) courtesy of PlayVS.

The inaugural esports championships are presented by OMEN and NVIDIA. Additionally, OMEN will be providing the gaming machines to be used during competition. The full event will be streamed inside Dave & Buster’s championship showroom with in-game analysis from experts.

The semifinals are set in League of Legends with three-player teams from Brophy College Prep, Washington, Mesa Mountain View and either Phoenix Country Day or Higley. Those semifinals will take place on Thursday, Jan. 23. The quarterfinals in Rocket League will be played on Thursday, Jan. 16 and will feature teams from Brophy College Prep, Deer Valley, Westwood, Camelback, Mesa Mountain View, Valley Christian, Thunderbird and Carl Hayden.

The AIA, in conjunction with PlayVS, will continue with a spring season with the same games offered, and will again conclude with a championship at Dave & Buster’s Tempe Marketplace. Click here for full information on the upcoming championships and the spring season.
