Canyon View takes down Buckeye Union

Legend Nichols attends Canyon View High School and is a member of the AIA's Student SID program.

The Canyon View JV football team won their final game of the season against Buckeye Union by a score of 38-22. 

 

“This was a tough game, and I’m glad there was some competition. Our kids played hard and came out on top, couldn't be happier,” Coach Van Kirk said 

 

Quarterback Ryan Finch completed a pass for a gain of 13 to get the Jaguars in scoring range at the end of the first quarter. Sophomore Anthony Munoz-Ramirez then kicked a field goal making the score 3-0 with Canyon View in the lead. 

 

By halftime Canyon View had recovered four fumbles from Buckeye Union. Sophomore running back Lucas Stewart scored the first Canyon View touchdown making the score 9-0. They made the extra point attempt making the score 10-0 at the end of the second quarter. 

 

“We played really good, we came out in the second half and really showed up," Stewart said. 

 

In the middle of the fourth quarter the handoff goes to sophomore Mathew Flores for a big gain for Canyon View. Later in the quarter Flores ran the ball into the endzone for the final touchdown making the score 38-22.
