Preview: Saguaro at Chaparral
October 27, 2011 by Game Previews, AZPreps365
“Rebuild the Rivalry. Saguaro vs. Chaparral, October 28, 2011.” This phrase could be seen on shirts across the Saguaro fan base last Friday as they took another W over Arcadia. The anticipation and excitement has been building as Saguaro and Chaparral meet for the first time in 3 years. Their last meeting was in 2008 during the 4A 1 Championship game at Sun Devil Stadium where Saguaro took home the victory. Now it’s time to face each other again in a much anticipated match-up to end the regular season.
The main question surrounding Coach Sanders and his Sabercats is how he will approach this Chaparral team. He plans to rest his some of his starters, due to his focus and priority being healthy athletes during the forthcoming playoffs. Will this in fact be the case? Or will there be a game-time decision that is opposite of what Coach Sanders has been proposing?
Either way, Coach Ragle and his team are preparing to work against the best Saguaro can offer. They’ve studied tape, and are going to come to the gridiron more than ready. Expect to see the best from Connor Brewer, Davonte Neal and the rest of the Chaparral team as they play for that number one spot in Division II.
In the end, it seems to be more about the playoffs than the rivalry for these coaches. One wants to secure a top seed and the other wants to secure the health of his top athletes. Still, the rivalry will be revived and the excitement and anticipation will be at an all time high tomorrow night when these two face off .
