2A football: St. Johns remains undefeated; blanks Rock Point, 56-0

Senior quarterback threw four touchdown passes to help lead St. Johns to a 56-0 shutout over the Rock Point Cougars in a freedom football game in Rock Point this past Friday.

Sanchez threw two touchdown passes to receiver Gage Heap, a pair of 5-yarders. Sanchez found Joe Bushman fr a 37-yard and connected with Graham Nielson for 16-yards.

The victory was St. Johns head coach Mike Morgan's 329th career win.

St. Johns moves to 2-0 on the year. St. Johns travels to Lakeside to face the Blue Ridge Yellowjacks, 2-0, this Friday, September 6 at 7 p.m.

Rock Point is 0-1 for the young season. Rock Point will be on the road at Fort Defiance to meet the Window Rock Scouts, 1-1, this Friday, September 6 at 7 p.m.

St. Johns raced out to a 28-0 first quarter lead.

Sanchez threw a pair of touchdown passes during the opening stanza. Ira Tullous scampered into the end zone for a 2-yard rushing touchdown. Tanner Crosby entered pay dirt from 3-yards.

St. Johns began the second quarter with a 5-yard scoring strike. Trevor Harris scored on a 6-yard jaunt. St. Johns increased its lead to 49-0 on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Wyatt Cox.

St. Johns ended its scoring in the third quarter, when Sanchez hit Heap for a touchdown.
