The Chinle Wildcats swept a 3A North Region doubleheader from the Tuba City Warriors. Chinle won the first game, 17-0, and the Wildcats completed the doubleheader swept 14-3 in the nightcap.

Chinle is ranked number 17 in the latest power rankings. The Wildcats are 16-7 overall and completed the 3A North Region 9-1. Chinle has one non-region freedom game remaining on its schedule. The Wildcats travel to Many Farms to face the Lobos on Monday at 3 p.m.

The 3A North Regional Tournament is scheduled for April 18 and April 20 at Tuba City High School.

First Game

Chinle 17, Tuba City 0

It was a long day for Tuba City. The Wildcats hit the ball well and played strong defense.

Chinle tallied three runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning, six runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning. The game was called, due to 10 run rule.pitc

Jaron Segay led Chinle at the plate with four hits. Myron Hodkie, Jayden Guy, Bryneil Hoskie, Branton Sandoval and Nelson Lynch all had three hits apiece. Lynch had five ribbies.

Chinle starting pitcher Jaron Segay pitched two innings, allowing one hit and striking out four batters. Bryneil Hoskie pithed three innings in relief. He did not allow any hits and fanning six batters.

"We were conistent in our hitting and fielding with good pitching," said Chinle head coach Don Kimbrough.

Second Game

Chinle 14, Tuba City 3

Chinle crossed the plate twice in the first inning, four runs in the second inning and eight runs in the fourth inning.

Jaron Segay cracked four hits to pace Chinle. Jermaine Jones, Branton Sandoval and Joshia Tullie all had two hits apiece. Myron Hoskie reached base four times, scoring three runs and had a triple.

Jermaine Jones threw two innings, allowing six hits and striking out two batters. Jayden Guy was the closer with four strikeout and no hits. in three innings of work on the mound.

"I feel the boys are playing good, fundamental baseball," Kimbrough said. "We are looking forward to post season."
