Softball: Window Rock Lady Scouts finish 3-1 at Chandler Prep tournament

Led by righthanded pitchers, junior Rachael Smiley and freshman Alexis Tsosie-Hood, the Window Rock Lady Scouts completed the Chandler Prep softball tournament with a 3-1 won-lost record, during the two-day classic.
"It was an awesome tournament and awesome teams," said Window Rock head coach Cynthia Smiley.
Game 1
Window Rock 9, Superior Jr./Sr. High School 3
In her first bat in the tournament, Tsosie-Hood belted a home run. Tsosie-Hood was the winning pitcher.
"We played great defense," Cynthia Smiley said. "Our offense started very well for the tournament," Smiley said.
Game 2
Camp Verde 7, Window Rock 3
Rachael Smiley suffered the loss in the pitching circle.
"Our defense was there, but we couldn't get our offense to get going," Cynthia Smiley said.
Game 3
Window Rock 8, Ray 2
Rachael Smiley was the winning pitcher.
"Our first four batters helped us start early into the game, scoring three runs in the first inning," Cynthis Smiley said.
Game 4
Window Rock 7, Trivium Prep 2
Rachael Smiley chalked up the win in the pitching circle.
Alyisha Hale and Tsosie-Hood were the leading hitters for the Lady Scouts.
"I let all our players play and they all did awesome," Cynthia Smiley said.
Window Rock, 12-3, travel to Chinle to face the Lady Wildcats today in a 3A North Region doubleheaders. The Lady Scouts meet the Ganado Lady Hornets on Friday in a 3A North Region twinbill.
